The video reveals a deeper meaning behind the song. The video, directed by Jamie Whitby, is shot in Los Angeles. It depicts Yoshi living a luxurious lifestyle.
“The video is commentary on the fact that no amount of riches makes you feel good if your all alone. Love is the answer. Hope is dope” says Yoshi Flower in a press release.
Earlier this year, his sophomore album Peer Pressure was released via Interscope Records. The album follows the artists debut body of work, American Raver released in 2018.
In an interview with Paper Magazine, Flower notes that the mixtape “as a whole is a collage and a set of musings on the human condition.”
Peer Pressure embodies emotional stories of sorts – a soundtrack to a youthful time. While the work centers around a younger theme, this doesn’t mean it lacks mature content. Themes such as envy, validation, self discovery and escapism are present.
Yoshi Flower is set to perform at Lollapalooza this year on August 2nd in Chicago. Tickets can be purchased here.
