Australian based band Chase Atlantic took off on The Phases Tour this summer in North America with special guest Lauren Sanderson.
Phases is the bands sophomore album, following an extremely successful trek opening for Lights as well as a spot on the final Vans Warped Tour.
Chase Atlantic packed St. Andrews Hall on their Detroit stop with fans waiting outside in the rain well before doors.
Recently an independent artist, Lauren Sanderson was full of smiles as she took the stage. Sanderson opened with “The Only One” off of her 2018 EP DON’T PANIC! and the entire crowd started bouncing along.
Sanderson’s presence on stage radiated confidence and a kick-ass attitude. Something very appealing in an opening artist, especially on a two band bill.
Sanderson performed an unreleased track, “Hotel Room.” She smiled with pride as she shared that his is her first single as an independent artist again.
“I believe in you” she reassured the crowd, pointing out individuals to add a personal touch. Right after, she asked the crowd to hold their phone lights up to creative a beautifully lit atmosphere for “In the Middle.”
Fog filled the room and the lights dimmed to reveal glowing neon backlighting the stage. Chase Atlantic entered to a roaring applause from the crowd, not wasting a moment before kicking into “Angels.”
The band immediately captures the eyes and ears of those in its presence. Every member on stage is moving, dancing and full of visible passion. The collection of talent on stage hones in on the bands craftsmanship. Vocalist Mitchel Cave hits notes seamlessly while Clinton Cave gets funky with the saxophone. Christian Anthony’s work on the guitar accompanies the sounds with near perfection.
While their set mostly included songs off of Phases, it did not leave out some staple songs from the past.
Songs like “Drugs and Money,” “Swim” and “The Walls” off of the bands debut, self titled album were included. As well as the closing track, “Okay.”
