The Metro Detroit based metal band ScapeGoat headlined the Shelter in Detroit this past Saturday.
Support came from close friends in Hollow Front, Spirit Breaker, and Gravebloom. Each band brought their own unique sound to the stage, with concert goers in the audience moshing in the forefront.
Gravebloom started the night off with some punishing guitar riffs and melodic progressions, accompanied with vocalist Justin Garcia’s relentless screams. The band played a new song that night, the title track of their upcoming album called “EMPATH”, which excited fans in the audience.
Up next was the crowd favorite, Spirit Breaker. Vocalist Tre Turner’s charisma and demeanor on stage kept the crowd highly entertained throughout their set, even handing off the microphone to allow a fan from the crowd to scream a portion of a song.
The band has been hard at work recording their upcoming album. Fans were eager to hear some old favorites before the new songs took their place in the setlist.
Following up was the act Hollow Front. The energetic band kept it moving with their tireless motions on stage. Guitarist Dakota Alvarez and bassist Brandon Rummler were constantly in motion to the bouncy riffs. Although their set was cut by two songs due to technical difficulties, the band still kept an entertaining set.
Finally, there was the headliner ScapeGoat. Shaking the place up with a lengthy and driven set, the band gave an impactful performance of ten songs from their debut album The Afterthought and their Oddball EP. In addition, they surprised the crowd with a live debut of two new songs.
While it was a smaller show, the band made enough buzz to intrigue attendees of a wedding in the venue just upstairs to the Shelter.
