Common Ground releases complete summer lineup

Lansing has hosted the coveted “Common Ground Music Festival, a four day festival that attracts up to 50,000 people a year since 2000. Starting On July 27th, the four day music bash promises to deliver on all fronts covering many different genres and demographics.

Thursday is headlined by country/rock veteran Brandi Carlile. Coming off the heels of her 2018 release By the Way, I Forgive You, Carlile went back to her roots with smooth songwriting and hard hitting Americana.

Co-headlining is City And Colour, the solo acoustic alter ego of Dallas Green, lead singer of Alexisonfire. The day is a nice, relaxing welcome to festival the grounds with Robert Randolph, Arlo McKinley and the Lonesome band, The Branches and Motherfolk starting the day out.

Friday starts the party with super producer ZEDD headlining. Hot off a collaborative EP with Katy Perry, ZEDD will be sure to keep our feet moving.

Playboi Carti shares the bill on Friday. Carti’s 2018 album Die Lit was a very defining project for the Atlanta rapper. After his self titled first effort people still weren’t sure exactly who or what Carti sounded like and what lane he aligned with.

Die Lit seemed to answer those questions. Dreamy, bass heavy production from Pierre Bourne under Carti’s heavy ATL accent took us to a dream land that sounded nothing like Carti released in the past letting everyone know Playboi Carti was in this own lane. Yung Gravy, Elephante, Jack Harlow and Carlie Hanson start Friday off.

Saturday we head to the country with Cole Swindell. Coming off a 2 year break Swindell released All of It, a compilation of experiences he had in the two year span. You can hear a level of maturity in the songwriting that was acquired with highs and lows of emotion.

Chris Janson co-headlines and turns the party up with anthems like “Fix a Drink,” and “Good Vibes.” Tracy Lawrence, Clare Dunn, Eric Chesser, Rachel Curtis and The Swift Brothers also party with us on Saturday.

We go coast to coast with our two headliners on the final day of Common Ground. California Hitmaker YG sends us off on Sunday. In 2018 YG released Stay Dangerous, a reimagining of the rappers state of mind. After the birth of his daughter, the Compton native took a different approach to his music. Still keeping the in your face attitude that was on 2016’s Still Brazy, YG explored a deeper narrative on songs like “Deeper Than Rap,” that prove that growth comes with life.

Co-headlining is New York native A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. His newest effort Hoodie SZN is his most experimental project yet. Exploring all ranges his voices can go, the Bronx native delves into a melodic rap style that many other artist are trying now. Self reflection as well as growth is what Hoodie SZN is all about.

Hip hop legend Big Boi of the iconic group OutKast alongside California super group 2 Live Crew will be making appearances. Trap Manny will top it all off.

Tickets are available here, now from single to 4 day passes! Get yours before you miss out on this all star 4 day event. Check out the complete lineup below.
