Fresh off the release of her Human EP, UK-based queer artist dodie packed the Majestic Theatre with devoted fans at her stop in Detroit.
The young artist has quickly gained tracked on her release, with it topping 28.2 million streams for her EP on Spotify and six million on Apple Music.
Her organic, passionate fans have followed dodie since her start on Youtube where she uses her platform to spread positivity and inclusivity while tackling issues relating to sexuality, mental health, relationships, and life.
Her recent single, “Guiltless” follows the soft, acoustic sound that dodie is known for. The intimate, emotion driven lyrics provide a deep insight into her mind.
Dodie opened her set with dramatic lighting, singling herself out on stage as she sang “Arms Unfolding.”
In addition to Human tracks like “Burned Out” and “If I’m Being Honest” she also performed her 2017 EP You in its entirety.
Sitting herself down at her keyboard, her humble personality radiated off the stage as she giggled along with fans. A couple of dedicated fans in the front row help up a homemade sign reading “clap clap” to wave along with “Monster.”
Speaking of fans, there was not one person fixated on the young artist throughout the entire evening. Fans were hugging each other swaying along to the music. Girls were crying as they related to dodie’s personal lyrics.
Dodie closed her set with “Would You Be So Kind?” and “In the Middle.”
