MGMT – The Fillmore – 5.13.19

MGMT, a psychedelic pop group packed The Fillmore as part of their spring North American tour with special guests Warpaint.

The group released their latest album, Little Dark Age back in 2018. The album debuted at number 25 on the Billboard charts and number two on the Top Rock Albums chart. After a little over a year of no new music, fans eagerly welcomed the music.

Warpaint (not pictured) is a kick-ass, all female group that stole the attention of the crowd. The band opened their set with “Stars” off of their 2009 body of work, Exquisite Corpse

While the band has not released any new music in a while, songs like “Disco//Very” and “Love is to Die” off of their 2013 self-titled album stand the test of time.

The stage was donned with florals and moody lighting, setting the scene to fit the bands mood. Vocals from Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser paired smoothly with the backing instrumentals.

MGMT opened with “When You Die” off of Little Dark Age which flowed seamlessly into “Time to Pretend” off of  Orangular Spectacular. Other tracks off that album include “Electric Feel,” “Kids,” and “The Youth.”

The band’s set included a two song encore of “TSLAMP” and “Congratulations.”
