With a highly anicpated two night show here in Detroit, Modest Mouse was a must see for fans of all ages. Their unique and quirky sound make for an experience that you can’t hear at just any show.

Modest Mouse originally formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington. Ever since, they have been taking on the world with numerous albums and tours. This indie rock band has even been honored with two Grammy nominations.

We were able to catch the first night of their stop at The Fillmore in Detroit.

Two piece indie band Mass Gothic (not pictured) opened the night up. They are direct supporting Modest Mouse for the full length of this US tour, all the way from their home in New York City.

The band opened with their 2018 single “Dark Window” which you can listen to here.Their set included also “Every Night You’ve Got To Save Me” and “Nice Night” off of their 2016 self-titled album.

The crowd shouted and applauded as Modest Mouse opened with “Dramamine” from their debut full length album This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About which was released in 1996.

The band included a wide variety of album coverage for their set. Ranging from songs off of their 1997 album, The Lonesome Crowded West (“Cowboy Dan”) to their most recent album Strangers to Ourselves (“Lampshade on Fire”, “Shit in Your Cut”, “Sugar Boats”).

The crowd giggled as guitarist Isaac Brock started “Autumn Beds” just a little too early, but they eagerly sang along once the band joined in.

The band wrapped up the evening with a four song encore, including many fan favorites. Beginning with “Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset”, the band performed “Parting of the Sensory”, “Out of Gas” and “The Whale Song”.

Modest Mouse will continue their headlining tour across North American until the end of July. In addition, the band will be performing at Forecastle Festival along with Sasquatch Festival.

Follow the band on Facebook to keep up to date with their shows.
