Top 5 sets to catch at Common Ground Festival

It’s that time of year again where we can’t wait to head to Adado Riverfront Park in Lansing for the four day music festival, Common Ground Festival. The festival has hosted a wide array of artists including last year’s headliner Big Sean, as well as Rise Against and Tim McGraw.

Common Ground Festival does a great job at showcasing talent across all genres of music, from rap to alt rock to country. This year’s lineup includes Halsey, Logic, Gucci Mane and Kip Moore. Not to mention support from BØRNS, Hunter Hayes, T-Pain and many more.

Below, we’ve created our top 5 artists that you should check out at Common Ground this year as well as our favorite song by them right now!

5. NF

Michigan rap artist NF has quickly hit the charts when his song “Let You Down” off of Perception went viral. His songs carry a heavy emotional tone that resonates with the listener. NF will be playing the Auto Value Stage Saturday, July 7 at 7:00 PM.

Song we’re listening to: “Therapy Session” – Therapy Session

4. Hunter Hayes

Hunter Hayes is the country boy that every girl dreams of being with. His heartfelt melodies captured our hearts as soon as he released “Wanted” in 2011. Hayes will be playing Auto Value Stage Thursday, July 5 at 7:00 PM.

Song we’re listening to: “More”

3. BØRNS

Michigan native Garret Borns is high on our list for our reason. His work with producer Tommy English has created two albums that are pure indie bliss. He will be playing the Sparrow Stage on Thursday, July 5 at 10:45 PM.

Song we’re listening to: “God Save Our Young Blood” feat. Lana Del Ray – Blue Madonna

2. Halsey

After the release of her debut album Badlands, Halsey has topped charts with her music. Her soulful voice lends itself to pop anthems, ballads and bluesy tunes. She will be playing the Auto Value Stage on Friday, July 6 at 9:30 PM.

Song we’re listening to: “Heaven in Hiding” – Hopeless Fountain Kingdom

1. Judah & the Lion

This folk-hop band blends elements of music together to create a wonderfully unique vibe. The release of their 2017 album Folk Hop N’ Roll is a testament of this. The band will be playing the Sparrow Stage Thursday, July 5 at 8:15 PM.

Song we’re listening to: “Going to Mars (!)”
