Metal band Born of Osiris released their seventh body of work, The Simulation earlier this year via Sumerian Records. Their stop in Detroit at Saint Andrews Hall was highly anticipated, the heavy lineup catered to a wide audience of fans.

Detroit’s own At the Hands of Victims opened the show. After their reunion set at the Ten Year Fanfare, family and friends were eager to see the band play the stage to another packed room.

Vocalist Eric Cudnik joined the crowd at the barrier, creating a very personalized set.

In regards to the bands future, they posted the following on Facebook:

California natives Kingdom of Giants took the stage next. Following the release of their 2017 album All the Hell You’ve Got to Spare, the band has released only two singles; “No Faith No Space” (2018) and “Bleach” (2019).

They opened their set with “Damaged Goods,” the bands most popular track on Spotify currently. While their set was short, it packed a punch. Their heavy tones and energy fit the bill well.

Make Them Suffer, an Australian based metal band followed. The bands hardcore sound was intricate, with inclusion of keys (Booka Nile) alongside powerful guitar riffs (Nick McLernon).

They opened their set with their most recent single, “27.” Their setlist included “Widower,” an old favorite off of their debut album Neverbloom. Pits began to open wide and fans quickly got rowdy.

The hall was packed for Chelsea Grin, giving the illusion that they were the headlining act. The band has been upholding their reputation within the metal community with the addition of Tom Barber (formerly Lorna Shore). The release of Eternal Nightmare with powerful tracks such as “Hostage” and “Dead Rose” left fans eager to see Barber live.

They weren’t disappointed. Chelsea Grin opened with “Playing with Fire” off of their 2012 album Ashes to Ashes, quickly proving to fans that their old work will not be forgotten.

Barber’s vocals pierced through the music and captivated all the energy in the room. His lows shook the walls as the bouncing of feet on the ground caused floor to shake along with them.

Born of Osiris was created by an already riled up crowd, making their performance of “The Accursed” an intense first song.

The light show only added to the mood in the room. The bright, flashing colors that timed with the intricate guitar of Lee Mckinney created the perfect atmosphere.

Vocalist Ronnie Canizaro interacted with almost every crowd surfer that entered the pit in front of him, resting his hand on their head.

Their 15 song setlist included songs off of their 2017 release The New Reign such as “Bow Down,” “Empires Erased” and “Open Arms to Damnation” as well an an encore performance of “Abstract Art.”
