California trio ASHRR drops debut EP

“We never try to write the same song twice and really don’t have a specific formula for writing other than it usually starts with a riff, or drum groove or a cool bass synth line. We have so many influences which helps create that diversity.”
ASHRR, a synthpop/alternative trio based in LA released their debut self-titled EP late last year.
Steven Davis (vocals) alongside Ethan Allen (instruments/programming/vocals) and Josh Charles (instruments/programming/vocals) have combined their rich music history to create ASHRR.
You can stream the EP on Spotify here.
“Steven and I have been working together for many years and Ethan came into the picture when we were working on a vocal session.” Charles says. “We hit it off and shared our mutual love of music and a passion for art. Together, we decided that we needed to make music for the world to hear.”
The EP opens with “Paper Glass”, a synth heavy that pulls retro vibes that lend themselves nicely to the distant vocals.
This contrasts with the closing song, “Here.” A track that is reminiscent of a broadway ballad, stripped of the synth pop atmosphere. This variety in song style is something that ASHRR will be continuing in the full length album Charles says.
“We never try to write the same song twice and really don’t have a specific formula for writing other than it usually starts with a riff, or drum groove or a cool bass synth line,” Charles says. “We have so many influences which helps create that diversity.”
The band plans on releasing a full length in the spring. Follow them on Facebook for more info on upcoming shows and releases.
