The rain did not stop fans from packing DTE Energy Music Theatre last Thursday night for G- Eazy’s Endless Summer tour featuring support from Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolls $ign, Murda Beats and YBN Nahmir.

Alabama native YBN Nahmir alongside P-Lo warmed up the crowd perfectly before Canadian hip-hop producer Shane Lindstrom, otherwise known as Murda Beatz helped hype the crowd up next. His 2018 release Bless Yo Trap includes work with big name artists such as Lil Yachty on “Do Not Disturb” and A$AP Ferg on “Pray”.

Ty Dolla $ign opened his set with his 2014 hit “Paranoid”. His sets throughout the Endless Summer tour have featured many covers including Post Malone’s “Psycho” and Kanye West’s “All Mine”.

While the bill for the tour was stacked, there was heavy anticipation for Lil Uzi Vert. A giant skull glowed on stage as the rapper came out, donned in a Bad Religion tee. He opened his set with “Drippin’ and Swaggin'”.

He was non stop on stage, jumping and dancing while the crowd rapped along with him. Other songs in his set included “444+222” and “Sauce it Up” off of his 2017 album Luv is Rage along with his feature on Travis Scott’s track “Watch It”.

Finally, large crucifixes glowed on stage as Gerald Gillum, more commonly known as G-Eazy, came out to a roar of applause from the amphitheater, quickly starting with “Pray for Me”.

Gillum has dubbed the nick name of “the James Dean of rap” and this could easily be understood. His charismatic looks on stage in combination with his honest lyrics had clearly captivated fans. Early into “The Plan”, a bra was flung on stage.

His set was heavy with songs off of The Beautiful and Damned. However, fans were surprised when G-Eazy was joined by Detroit rap artist Tee Grizzley and the two performed “First Day Out”.

The production was breathtaking. The large LED screens flashed various lights and visuals that enhanced the performance. At one point, Gillum hopped on the hood of a ‘65 blue convertible Mustang. His set closed with “Me, Myself and I” and “No Limit”.

The Endless Summer tour continues through early September. A complete list of dates can be found here.
