Greta Van Fleet returns home to three sold out shows at The Fillmore

Today marks day one of three sold out shows at The Fillmore for Greta Van Fleet. Hailing from Frankenmuth, these homecoming shows have been highly anticipated since the start of the tour.

Three brothers, Jake (guitar), Josh (vocals) and  Sam Kiszka (bass/keyboards) alongside Danny Wagner (drums) make up this powerhouse band.

Their debut EP, Black Smoke Rising showcased the group’s unique sound has notes of inspiration from Cream, the Yardbirds, The Who and others alike. These almost nostalgic notes are paired with a new sound that is a blend of psychedelic sound, pop, rock and the blues.

“No limits, no barriers, no boundaries,” Jake Kiszka stated. “It was like that when we were growing up, and it’s like that when we’re making our own music.”

In 2017, the band combined the four songs from the prior EP with an additional four to produce From The Fires. The opening track on the double EP is “Safari Song”, a high energy song that has since then flooded the airways of local radio stations.

The current North American tour kicked off as the band played Coachella last month. However, that wasn’t the only festival Greta Van Fleet was on the bill for. Accompanying Coachella they also played Rock on the Range and among others, will be playing Lollapalooza this August.

Earlier this year, the band began recording their debut full length album in both Detroit Nashville, working with Al Sutton and Nashville with Marlon Young.
