Papa Roach has been traveling across North America as part of the Crooked Teeth World Tour in celebration of the release of their 2017 album Crooked Teeth.
After selling out multiple stops on the tour, the band’s stop in Detroit was another packed set that sold out at doors.
Escape the Fate recently released their sixth album I am Human at the end of March. They opened their set with “Do You Love Me” off of the new album. Drummer Robert Ortiz was full of smiles on stage.
The crowd got rowdy during “This World Is Ours (The Guillotine II)” off of their 2010 album This War is Ours. Following that was their closing song “One For the Money”.
San Antonio rock band Nothing More dropped jaws as they came out to “Christ Copyright”. What followed is by far one of the most intense sets I have seen live.
After “Do You Really Want It?” off of their most recent album The Stories We Tell Ourselves. Vocalist Johnny Hawkins was a whirlwind on stage as he sang.
During “This is the Time (Ballast)” Hawkins shook the drum he stood on to mix, and it sprung high into the air. While he was up there, the band covered Skrillex’s “First of the Year (Equinox)”.
For the finale of “Salem (Burn the Witch)” the entire band jammed out on drums, leaving the audience in awe.
Finally, the curtain dropped and Papa Roach took the stage, demanding the crowd chant “Fuck Papa Roach” as they opened into “Crooked Teeth”.
Vocalist Jacoby Shaddix worked the fans, as he smiled and shared the mic with them throughout the entire set. His personality lit up the room alongside the band’s high energy.
During “Getting Away with Murder”, it seemed every fan was singing along. Immediately after the song ended, Shaddix jumped to the barrier and joined the crowd for “Still Swingin'”.
Their set was full of surprises, such as a cover of Blur’s “Song 2” and an introduction of Eminem’s “Loose Yourself” prior to “Broken Home”.
During “Forever”, Papa Roach paid tribute to the last Chester Bennington with a snippet of Linkin Park’s “In the End”.
After “Born for Greatness” the crowd demanded an encore, screaming until the band came back out. After an emotional performance of “Scars”, the band kicked into “None of the Above”.
For their closing song, the band performed their iconic hit “Last Resort”, where the fans immediately screamed along to the words “Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort”.
Papa Roach continues on tour until mid May. This August the band will be playing a series of festivals across the globe including Reload Festival and Reading & Leeds.
