Metro Detroit metal band ScapeGoat released their debut album The Afterthought last week and packed The Loving Touch in celebration of it.

As We Divide, Coffin Talk and Dethrone the Deceiver opened for the band. There was hardcore dancers in the pit from the first song of Dethrone the Deceiver up until the last song of ScapeGoat.

While it was a fairly heavy bill that night, Dethrone the Deceiver was by far the heaviest set. Their intense drops were enough to get the crowd hyped for the rest of the evening.

Coffin Talk tore up the stage with their nu-metal sound. I had never seen them live before this show, but I was thoroughly impressed by their tight sound.

As We Divide was the lightest band on the bill, but that didn’t stop the crowd from getting rowdy. Two of their heavier songs included “Short Story on Being Set Aside” and “Deadlight” off of their debut album The Days We’re After.

ScapeGoat opened their set with “Struggle”, the opening track of the album. You could tell the band was excited to share their work with their family and friends. They were full of  genuine energy. Vocalist Tyler Dentry seemed to hardly take a breath on stage other than to share the mic with the crowd.

In addition to playing the album in it’s entirety, the band included their single “Haunted”  as well as their closing song “Bloodletter” off of their 2015 EP Oddball.

You can stream The Afterthought on Spotify, and purchase it on iTunes.
