Detroit’s own Boys of Fall joined pop punk icons All Time Low when they kicked off the second installment of The Young Renegades U.S. tour at Grand Valley State University’s Field House Arena.

Fans were lined up inside the building hours before doors, and raced to the barrier once let inside the venue.

Boys of Fall opened their set with “Anger Management”, and the crowd went wild. If they had not heard of the band before, you could hardly tell as they quickly began singing back to vocalist Mike Martenson.

This had to have been one of the band’s most energetic sets we’ve seen. Bassist Eli Sleeker was full of smiles and cheers on stage. Martenson made a lasting impression on fans as he joined them at the barrier and shared the mic.

For a change of pace, the band played one of their most recent singles “Chasing Lonely”. However, this wasn’t the only new song played, as they included “No Good For Me” in their set.

Boys of Fall are currently in Florida recording a full length album under InVogue Records with producer Andrew Wade before they take off on tour with We Were Sharks this spring.

Boys of Fall had hyped the crowd up perfectly for All Time Low. As Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat walked on stage the arena went wild.

The band opened with “Somewhere in Neverland” off of their 2012 album Don’t Panic. You could hardly hear Gaskarth over the sound of the crowd singing along. They followed that with “The Irony of Choking on a Lifesaver”, the first live performance of the song since 2015.

All Time Low included a handful of older songs such as “Lost in Stereo” and “Weightless” off of their 2009 album Nothing Personal. It was after five songs in that they played “Dark Side of Your Room” from their most recent album Last Young Renegade.

Other songs off of the recent album included “Drugs & Candy” and “Dirty Laundry”. This was also the first time “Afterglow” has been performed live in the U.S.

Gaskarth performed a solo acoustic performances of “Missing You” and “Therapy” which both tugged at the hearts of the crowd.

Gaskarth and Barakat’s witty banter between songs kept fans engaged and gave a more personal feel to the set.

All Time Low gave a three song encore featuring “Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t)”,   “Good Times” and emo anthem “Dear Maria, Count Me In”.

All Time Low will be traveling to select dates across the U.S. for the last installment of The Young Renegades tour.

You can catch Boys of Fall on tour with We Were Sharks through the end of May. Follow the band on Facebook and Twitter for more dates.
