Japanese metal band BABYMETAL packed the Fillmore this month on their U.S. headlining tour with support from Swedish metal band, Avatar.

The Galaxy tour – appropriately named after the bands upcoming album Metal Galaxy – has given devoted fans the chance to see the female fronted group that has opened for popular U.S. rock acts like Korn.

Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moa-metal) as well as backup dancer Riho Sayashi took the stage, flooded with light from the giant LED screen behind them. The dramatic entrance was just a taste of the intensive production of the show.

The three women danced with such grace and uniformity while they sang, it captivated the audience. Opening with “Megitsune” off of their self titled 2015 album.

The live performance of the band also gave way for the supportive band, named the Kami band, to showcase their talent. In addition to the K-Pop driven vocals, the backing metal music was full of intricate riffs and crafted tones.

The band included recent singles like “Elevator Girl,” “PA! PA! YA!” and “Starlight” which caused the crowd to go wild, cheering along with he band.

The group closed their twelve song set with “Road of Resistance” from their 2016 album METAL RESISTANCE.

Visiting the U.S. all the way fro Sweden was supporting act Avatar. The bands theatrics made for a perfect high energy set to begin the evening. Playing a variety of songs from their discography, the rowdy group encouraged the crowd to sing along and join in on their antics.

Opening with tracks like “Hail the Apocalypse” and “Let it Burn,” the crowd was quick to join the energy of the band on stage. The band closed their set with fan favorite “Smells like a Freakshow.”
