Michigan native and Citizen frontman Mat Kerekes put on a truly memorable sold out show at The Pike Room in Pontiac. Fans lined up early to receive one of the 50 available flexi discs of the single “Diamonds,” along with one of the fifteen available tour exclusive vinyl records.
Kerekes has recently released his highly anticipated new album Ruby exclusively for vinyl on this tour. This comes following his last album release of Luna & the Wild Blue Everything back in 2016. A release date for streaming is still tentative.
Rock and roll band Tranquility opened up the evening. The band recently put out a new single the night of the show titled “Forever In Forever” which you can stream here. This single is the title track of their next album. You can catch the band performing at this years final BLED Fest in Howell, MI.
On his first national tour with Kerekes, Detroits own singer/ songwriter Jacob Sigman started his set with mellow vibes of vocals and synth. Sigman recently put out his newest single “Casual Love.” The rest of the set was carried by a full band and high energy throughout the crowd.
Direct support was Ohio’s indie-alt band Jetty Bones. The band has a strong and dedicated fan base which you could truly expierence Friday night during their set. Jetty Bones also recently released a new Ep titled “-“ on 2/22. While the new material was covered live the band didn’t leave out old favorites. The passion the band puts into their shows is something special.
With ease Mat Kerekes and his full band started their set as the crowd sang along. Kerekes’ brother Chris Kerekes, from Toledo’s own The Flats, took the stage as well. Their dad also joined in by playing tambourine and guest vocals on “Direction.” The dynamic also included Tranquility’s vocalist/ guitarist Bret Kaminski and Jacob Sigman.
“Ruby“ features refreshing guitar solos and were well executed and entertaining. Kerekes also performed his latest single off the upcoming album “Diamonds.”
Mat Kerekes, Jetty Bones, and Jacob Sigman will be touring all of March nationally with the final show taking place in Chicago at the Beat Kitchen.
